Guildrun Demo Patch 0.5.2 — Boss Tokens, Rewind Fixes & Balance
Patch 0.5.2 is the Guildrun demo's second public balance update, shipped July 28, 2026 with another Merged and SSS leaderboard reset. Lead designer Aleco highlighted week-two improvement — Red Rift winrate climbing from 7% to 12%, Endless average score up half a floor — then delivered Boss Token generosity, Emergency Rewind bug fixes, starting-bonus Shard cleanup, and targeted hero/spec nerfs so Aria and other solved picks leave room for wider draft trees. Patch Goals and Week-Two Data
Aleco framed 0.5.2 as a balance and polish week rather than a difficulty hike. Internal data showed players discovering stronger lines quickly after the July 16 demo launch and the July 23 0.5.1 pass. The design intent: keep climbing feel rewarding, reduce Boss Token drought frustration, fix Emergency Rewind over-paying Shards, and nudge the most solved hero specs without deleting popular strategies.
Community-starred QoL landed alongside balance: collapsible Event Effects panels, comic speech-bubble fixes, 16:10 event image cropping, item-scaling persistence after load, and Red Rift Campfire / pending-mission limbo fixes that previously forced run abandons.
- Release window: July 28, 2026 — second demo balance patch
- Leaderboards: Merged and SSS reset; Red Rift stays seasonal

- Tone: generosity + bug honesty, not a hard-mode update
Boss Tokens — Two Per Boss Reach
Players now receive 2 Boss Tokens when reaching a Boss, up from 1. This was the headline player-facing economy change. Aleco called it the best short-term fix that did not require a full Boss Token system rewrite before full release. Red Rift farmers who burned tokens on retries should feel fewer dead-end runs.
Larger Boss Token and starting-bonus redesigns are still on the table for 1.0. Treat the double grant as a demo-era band-aid that changes how greedily you spend tokens on high-difficulty retries — see also our difficulty guide and endless mode pages.
Emergency Rewind Shard Fixes
Two bugs made Emergency Rewind too strong: it accumulated unintended Shards while broken, and Trial fights also stacked Rewind Shards. After the fix, a recharge always starts at 10 Shards — not 10 plus 10 per round since it broke. Act 1 Campfire recharge feels weaker than in 0.5.1.
Aleco explicitly warned this may surprise players who built around inflated Rewind economy, especially the All In starting bonus. Leyline is monitoring winrates and may hotfix if the swing is too large. Offset comes from more Boss Tokens and continued player skill growth.
Starting Bonuses and Fight Events
Most starting bonuses that charged −5 starting Shards lost that penalty (Crest Windfall, Survivor Charm, class Equipment bonuses, Item Windfall). Item Windfall now also grants two fewer common items. Stability System (−5 Shards reward), Shard Pouch (−3), and Starter Bundle (−2) were nerfed because free Shard openers dominated, especially when Red Rift needs ~30 Shards for a two-hero first shop.
Single Combat's Shard reward option rose from 15 → 20 so it competes with epic items that sell for 16 Shards — a community-starred fix. Pair this with our shop economy and auction house guides when planning early shops.

Relics, Items, and Class Modifiers
Legendary engines (Mage Cataclysm, Warrior Bloodshed, Mystic Abundance) and several epics (Sundering Filigree, Critical Absorption, Perfect Divergence) took percentage trims. Shield Converter and Assassin's Memento gained power. Poison Ascendancy received a bug fix that stopped it from buffing enemy attack — a silent buff for poison lines.
Item highlights: Polymath's Prism fixed to true 20% per class (was bugged at 25%). Temporal Accelerator reshuffled toward Omnivamp and Attack Speed. Ring of Virality and Toxic Contract buff poison. Sentinel's Plate and Runic Buckler lost Red Rift outlier defense/shield values. Spellblade and Warrior's Greataxe got meaningful buffs. Warrior Shield Power and Assassin Poisonous Eye class modifiers also climbed.
Hero and Spec Tuning — Aria, Kai, Ming, Grace
Aria was the strongest hero across difficulties; Harmony in particular won SSS/Red Rift. Requiem Barrage and Harmony lost Magic/Mana scaling but gained early base damage/shields so C-rank Aria feels better while late scaling softens. Kai's Bold lost Defense on acquire and shield-on-cast multiplier after last week's nerf failed to stop its winrate climb.
Ming received Rush-duration buffs on Inner Flame and Enlightened after struggling in SSS/RR. Grace gained Mana economy (Max 120→110, Start 35→50) so on-board casts happen sooner, while Radiant Backup scaling was trimmed. Other notes: Sal Breezy nerf, Irini Mighty gains Stall(10), Gustav Glacier −1 range + shield trim, Pollen Earth's Child Magic trim, Ratna Magnanimous crit-per-rank trim, Logan Iron / Reyna Champion & Brawler / Rip Brute buffs. Full starter-path advice lives on starter carries.
Visual, Tutorial, and Bug-Fix Highlights
New event art for The Three Urns and The Well of Temptations, burn VFX refresh, battle-speed timing pass, difficulty-select layout polish, and tutorial drag-and-drop item slot highlighting. Red Rift now warns if you skip the last Campfire reward, and a limbo state after beating the final boss with pending missions (besides Hero Deaths) is fixed.
Compendium swapped Ming A/B rank display. Ability text with multiple Stall instances now writes “Stall” once (effects unchanged). Cross-check streamer VODs uploaded before July 28 — especially Red Rift streak content — against this page and weekly updates.
